SDCW's purpose is to (1) serve specific physical needs of the parish community and (2) provide opportunities for fellowship and faith formation for the women of the parish. The ministry will achieve these goals through (1) the Service Ministries and (2) Formation Opportunities. All women of the parish are invited to participate in any or all of these dimensions of the ministry.
The Service Ministries will no longer operate under the purview of the “Circles.” Instead, they will be open to all the women of the parish who wish to serve. Women are invited to sign up for as many ministries as they wish and may serve for as long as they wish. Each ministry will be overseen by a single coordinator.

To better communication and input to the Parish Council, several Commissions stand: Evangelization, Finance, Parish Life, Catholic Formation, Building & Grounds and Liturgy
The Formation Commission aids in the planning and implementation of learning opportunities for Seven Dolors. They work with the Religious Education and Youth Ministry Directors to choose curriculum for their classes, and lend assistance to Manhattan Catholic Schools. They also work to provide continuing education opportunities for all ages in the parish. This commission is set up to provide opportunities for our parishioners to come to know and enjoy each other. In this way, they seek to deepen our parish unity. To date, examples of their activities are the Parish Picnic (held close to the Feast of Seven Dolors in the fall) and the Birthday Dinner (held in the springtime).
